A vault built into your reminder app

A reminder app sees the most honest version of your day. Medical appointments, financial follow-ups, professional meetings, personal goals. Vault is the place those reminders live when they should not be visible to everyone who picks up your phone.

Inside Vault, sensitive reminder text is stored in the iOS Keychain. The Keychain is Apple's hardware-backed credential store, separate from the regular app database, and access is gated by your device authentication. CloudKit metadata may sync the existence of a protected reminder across your Apple devices, but never the readable title or notes.

How Vault protects you in practice

The vault is designed around a single principle: a protected reminder should look ordinary until you decide otherwise.

• On Today a protected row shows as Protected Reminder with no preview text. The schedule still works, the count is still accurate.
• In your lists the row counts toward totals but never reveals its content.
• On Home Screen widgets Vault reminders are excluded entirely, even when they are next up.
• In Spotlight, Siri Suggestions, and Lock Screen previews protected text is invisible.
• Across iCloud sync the encrypted reference travels; the readable text does not.
• On Apple Watch and Vision Pro protected reminders show as placeholders and cannot be unlocked there.

Unlocking is calm and reversible

Open Vault from the sidebar and authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Vault PIN. The PIN is always available as a fallback if biometrics fail or are disabled. After a successful unlock, a short session keeps the folder open so you can work without re-authenticating every time you tap a row. The session ends when you lock the folder, close the app, or your device locks.

Threat model: what Vault protects against

Vault is designed for everyday, real-world risk. It protects your reminder content from:

• Casual observation. A colleague, family member, or stranger glancing at your screen, lock screen, or widget.
• Device handover. Lending your iPad to a friend or showing your phone to a customs officer.
• Background services. No reminder content is sent to third party analytics, ad networks, or Henkq servers.
• Lost devices. Without your biometrics or PIN, the Keychain entries are not readable.

Henkq does not claim to defend against a forensic adversary with physical access and unlimited time. For that level of risk, combine Vault with a strong device passcode, full disk encryption, and Apple's Advanced Data Protection for iCloud.

Add to Vault without leaving Today

Protect in one drag is the fastest path into the Vault. Drag the vault icon on the Today input bar onto any reminder row, and the row moves into the vault with one gesture. No menus, no extra screen, no confirmation dialog. The undo toast keeps the move reversible for five seconds.

Available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Vault unlocks on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple Watch and Vision Pro intentionally cannot unlock the vault, because they are read-focused companions in public or semi-public contexts.
